Because even the beautiful escapes,
Were cages of pain,
Mind games to fan the flames.
A hedge maze cloaked,
As heavenly protection,
Testing your dedication.
They’ll thump their holy books,
Promising they’ve got your six,
Swearing you’re family to them.
Then they’ll lie like dogs,
Dragging you into the mud,
Baptizing you.
Carving you into,
Something new,
Because they know what’s best for you.
And you’ll believe them,
Because you don’t know,
You’re in a cage.
-And they like it that way
